Description

So this is my take of #74 of the "100 Themes Challenge" Link

I started this drawing a LONG time ago, so the overall style feels rather stiff to me now. The drawing when I last left it was mostly done save for the eyes and some minor tweaking of the contrasts, so I decided to just sit down and finish it before it became yet another project never to be completed. I’m rather fond of it despite how long it took me to get around to finishing it. :P
Originally I was going to have an epic Bionicle fighting scene, but then thought twice about it. After all, that's probably what most people do with this prompt. So after some thinking, I played with ideas highlighting how Makuta Teridax is a huge strategic planner and having it like he was asking that question, which in turn brought me around to having the chess board theme. As I was drawing I got all philosophical about it and could give you guys a thousand different meanings and subtleties that are thrown in this drawing, but that would take far too long and for a drawing that started out on a rather simple theme it feels like it would be rather pompous and loquacious . (And heaven knows I ramble enough in the artist’s comments! ;D)

Done with…Pencils whose brand name I completely blanked out on. It starts with a “C.” Wow…Erm, anyway, great pencils; really vibrant and fun to blend, but smudges worse than charcoal! No joke. If you use anything except the pencil to blend with you’ll end up removing half of the color. Fixative doesn’t help much at all and usually only speckles it without “fixing” the color so that it will stick, so I need to find a way to protect this drawing... (Currently this drawing is in a clear page protector.)

Teridax even played his own minions, appealing to their ambition to gain their help, then killing them when they were no longer ncessary.
